Forgotten Treasure!

As we all know that the history of Delhi mostly lies in old Delhi. There is a lot to know about the heritage in Chandni Chowk.
To research on that, I went to historical lanes of Chandni Chowk and in the crowded lanes, stands a Haveli known as GHALIB KI HAVELI.
It was the residence of 19th century Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib and is now a heritage site.  It offers an insight into the Mirza Ghalib’s lifestyle and architecture of the Mughal Era. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Mirza Ghalib is one of the most famous and loved Urdu and Persian language poets of the Indian subcontinent. I think his poems still rule many people's heart. After Mirza Galib's death in 1869, and later after India's partition, Delhi changed dramatically. Many of the old mansions were considered old-fashioned and so destroyed and replaced with brick and concrete buildings. Ghalib's house also met a similar fate and actually housed several shops till the Delhi Government acquired a part of it in 1999 and renovated it to bring back some past glory.
Visiting this place will take you back to an era when poets ruled hearts of people. This place left a unique impression on me and I hope it does same for you too.
