Yes,
Chota Qutub Minar, this is what came out from my mouth when I was passing by a
village in Uttam Nagar and saw this place. There are many places today that are
being take care and declared as heritage places but still there are some places
that are forgotten and partially broken. The Chota Qutub Minar is Hastsal
Minar. On top of that, it's located in such a remote site that even
locating it is a nightmare. Yet, it has a story that deserves to be told.
When
I saw it, I was what is it, is it just a random tower or something, the I
asked some local people, they were also not aware of it much, they were like
some plane crashed here. The people of the village were mostly aware of its
name.
So
by name I searched a lot on internet and asked there from many people. Then I
got to know about its history.
It was a hunting lodge made by Shahjahan. But the local inhabitants think it's from the era of Prithviraj Chauhan, although the red sandstone architecture suggests the former. As of now, it stands around 17 meters tall but originally it was much taller. According to village people, as I said earlier, that they think it was hit by a plane but their is no proof to that.
In the past, one could go inside and climb up the stairs, but not any more. It's also believed that there was a underground tunnel connecting it to a palace although it seems impossible to locate that under present conditions. However, the sandstone and marble surface of the tower is still in good shape.
