CHOR MINAR

If you think that this must be the Char Minar which has probably been misspelt, you are in for a surprise. This really is the Chor Minar of Delhi. Yes, as the title suggests this minar is the "tower of thieves". The Chor Minar was a tower built for a special purpose. It has 225 holes. It was built in 13th century by the ruler Allaudin Khilji.
I got to know about this place during my visit to Hyderabad as I was looking for images of Char Minar on Internet and I got confuse with this Minar. So I started gathering more information about this. This minar is located in Hauz khas, yes where we have been many times for partying and we were not aware of this place. It served as a podium to display the beheaded heads of the thieves to set an example that other people should be afraid to commit that crime.
People say that Chor Minar is haunted but who knows as it is located in the posh area. Chor Minar has now become the meeting point for nearby people. Kids play there in the evening and who had any idea that once this Minar was soaked in blood and now it is a family place. This place is very peaceful now.
