An Anonymous place of Heritage in Delhi.

In the middle of a busy intersection across the street from Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi is a monument topped by a dome, there are so many people who pass by it every day. Not many, however, know what the structure is, when it was built, what its history is or even its name. The same thing has happened to me too, I have been to Humayun’s tomb many times and I have seen this tomb which is named as Sabz Burj many times but I always used to ignore it. Then one day I thought to explore that Tomb also because there must be some history behind it. Recently on 2nd March I went there, it was under construction as recently it got the lease of life. It is a 16th century double- domed Mughal-era monument in Nizamuddin area. The tower was supposedly built in between 1530-50 A.D.

The interesting fact about this Tomb is that for several years during British rule, the tower was used as a police station.

So, if you are visiting Humayun’s Tomb then do take out 5-10 minutes to visit this place also.
